Spokane Society of Internal Medicine

Welcome!

I am honored to serve as the Spokane Society of Internal Medicine President for 2020-2022. As a hospitalist, every day I have the opportunity to witness the amazing team of providers that must come together to coordinate care for our complicated patients--generalists, subspecialists, resident physicians, medical students, both inpatient and outpatient. Today with the COVID-19 pandemic, we face unprecedented challenges in navigating the healthcare system, but are reassured that our teammates are still out there. Collegiality in medicine is needed now more than ever.

The SSIM strives to nurture relationships among the internal medicine providers throughout the greater Spokane community. We seek to facilitate continuing medical education and foster curiosity and passion among medical students interested in internal medicine. This coming November, our society is excited to host the Washingon ACP Annual Meeting via webcast in Spokane. This remains one of the premier CME events of the year including both Seattle and local speakers as well as a local poster competition for resident physicians and medical students. This year we are pairing the webcast with our annual dinner where we will recognize local physicians who exemplify the "gentle and humane nature" advocated by Sir William Osler. I invite you to come join us for a weekend of learning and a chance to connect with your colleagues.

Amy Eddy, MD, FACP
