Osler Award Nomination

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic our 2020 Osler Award Ceremony has been postponed until Nov 6, 2020

The Spokane Society of Internal Medicine values colleagues who exemplify the “gentle and humane nature” advocated by Sir William Osler. The Osler Award annually recognizes a Spokane medical student, Any Spokane-based DO/MD residents of any specialty and open to those in transitional year (not constrained to IM in Internal Medicine, and a Spokane County practicing MD/DO of any specialty. Recipients will be honored at a Spokane Society of Internal Medicine event each calendar year.

The Osler Award recognizes humanistic values of compassion, courage, altruism, kindness, and integrity in bedside patient-care medicine, done in a manner that enhances role-modeling for the community. Nominations should describe the nominee’s actions, behaviors, and example-setting which embody professionalism and compassion.

Nominations for all categories may be submitted by medical students of any DO/MD school who are in rotations in Spokane, by Any Spokane-based DO/MD residents of any specialty including transitional year residents , or by Spokane County community DO/MD physicians. Community Physicians recognized may be of ANY specialty.

Selections of nominees are made by the SSIM Executive Committee, with a simple-majority voting method.
